Hyalina was named by Schumacher (1817) [Sepkoski's age data: Q Plei R]. It is extant. Its type is Hyalina pellucida.

It was reranked as Helix (Hyalina) by Slavik (1869); it was misspelled as Hyalinia by Andreae (1902), Abbass (1967), Sepkoski (2002) and Rosenberg (2005).
