Hydrobia (Hydrobia) inusitata was named by Beets (1946) [DISTRIBUTION: Pliocene; Northern Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Hydrobia inusitata by van Regteren Altena (1965); it was recombined as Cingula inusitata by Glibert (1957) and Marquet (1997).
