Valvata striata was named by Philippi (1836) [DISTRIBUTION: Pliocene-Recent; Mediterranean, Northern Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Adeorbis striatus by Wood (1848); it was recombined as Circulus striatus by Harmer (1923) and Marquet (1997).
