Taxonomy
Myristica basilica was named by Bellardi (1872) [DISTRIBUTION: Oligocene; Mediterranean, Myanmar.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Melongena (Myristica) basilica by Rovereto (1900); it was recombined as Vasum basilicum by Vredenburg (1921).
