Mazzalina was named by Conrad (1860) [Sepkoski's age data: K Camp T Eo-u Sepkoski's reference number: 123,700]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Fasciolariidae by Palmer (1937) and Gardner (1947); to Neogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Peristerniinae by Snyder (2003).
