Hoanghoniinae was named by Gingerich et al. (1994). It is not extant. It was considered paraphyletic by Qi and Beard (1998).
It was assigned to Adapidae by Gingerich et al. (1994); and to Sivaladapidae by Qi and Beard (1998) and Gunnell and Miller (2001).
