Murchisonia (Catazone) apate was named by Perner (1907) [Murchisonia (Catazone) Apate Perner 1907]. It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Vyskocilka, which is in a Gorstian marine horizon in the Kopanina Formation of the Czech Republic.
It was recombined as Catazone apate by Wagner (2023).
