Taxonomy
Australoscutula yooi was named by Cook et al. (2007). Its type specimen is QMF 49521, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Marohn. Yoo Loc. 28. 150 m west of Marohn homestead, which is in a Tournaisian carbonate limestone in the Dangarfield Formation of Australia.

A. Cook et al. 2007Australoscutula species with flat, broadly patelliform teleoconch; protoconch relatively large, broad. Shell flat, broadly patelliform, 1.05 mm high, maximum diameter of 2.5 mm; protoconch at apex in subcentral position, axis approximately parallel to aperture of limpet; protoconch turbiniform, comprises about 2.5 whorls, 0.35 mm high (from apex to base) and 0.39 mm wide; first whorl tightly coiled, diameter 0.15 mm; protoconch smooth without conspicuous ornament; protoconch base round, convex, minutely phaneromphalous; transition to teleoconch abrupt with strong expansion immediately following protoconch; teleoconch broadly patelliform, from earliest to last preserved growth stages with no traces of coiling; ornament restricted to fine distinct concentric growth lines commonly interrupted by healed shell fractures; inner shell without remains of columella and clear traces of muscle attachment scars.
