Retispira lyelli
Taxonomy
Bellerophon (Bucania) lyelli was named by Gemmellaro (1889). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Rupe del Passo di Burgio, calcare compatto, Sosio, which is in a Wordian carbonate limestone in Italy.
It was recombined as Bucania lyelli by Wanner (1922); it was recombined as Bellerophon lyelli by Delpey (1941); it was recombined as Knightites (Retispira) lyelli by Yochelson (1960); it was recombined as Retispira lyelli by Rollins et al. (1971), Batten (1972), Nützel and Ketwetsuriya (2016), Mazaev (2019), Ketwetsuriya et al. (2020) and Wagner (2023).
