Ornopsis was named by Wade (1916) [Sepkoski's age data: K Camp-l K Maes-u Sepkoski's reference number: 4,123]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Fasciolariinae by Sohl (1964); to Neogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Buccinidae by Squires and Saul (2006).
