Cardium triforme was named by Sowerby (1840) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Miocene; Europe, Pakistan.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Cardium (Discors) triforme by Vredenburg (1928) and Cox (1936); it was recombined as Discors triforme by Eames (1950).
