R. D. Hoare et al. 2002 | Tail plate with distinct jugal area, arched longitudinally, hypotyche large, thick; lateral margins thickened, set off by narrow sulci.
Description.—Head plate wider than long, moderately arched; anterior and lateral margins form a uniform curve, posterior margins straight, not mucronate; ventral surface with narrow apical area; plate thickened medially with low, rounded, transverse ridge; dorsal surface with fine, closely spaced pustules and comarginal growth ridges. Intermediate plates wider than long, strongly arched; anterior margin straight or with wide, shallow, jugal sinus, lateral margins broadly convex, posterior margins straight to slightly convex, weakly mucronate; jugal area distinct, narrowly rounded medially, broad anteriorly, set off from lateropleural areas by shallow sulci; sutural laminae relately large, rounded anteriorly, located near anterolateral corners, ventral surface with large apical area under apex, continuing as narrow ridge along posterior margins; plates thickened by low, rounded ridge paralleling posterior margins at midlength; dorsal surface with fine, closely spaced pustules and comarginal growth ridges, the latter most prominent on lateropleural area. Tail plate subtriangular, arched longitudinally, anterior margin with jugal sinus, lateral margins straight, converging on short, sharply rounded posterior margin; mucro terminal; jugal area narrowly rounded, set off from lateropleural areas by shallow sulci; sutural laminae large, rounded anteriorly, located at sulci separating jugal area on anterior margin; ventral surface with large, thick hypotyche extending laterally to anterolateral corners; small pocket present medially under hypotyche; dorsal surface with fine, closely spaced pustules and, in some instance, rather corse, comarginal growth ridges on lateropleural areas which cross jugal area anteriorly. |
