Paziella was named by Jousseaume (1880) [Sepkoski's age data: T Than R Sepkoski's reference number: 704]. It is extant. Its type is Eupleura stimpsonii.

It was reranked as Hexaplex (Paziella) by Glibert (1963); it was reranked as Poirieria (Paziella) by Vokes (1970) and Todd (2001).

It was assigned to Muricidae by Gardner (1947); to Hexaplex by Glibert (1963); to Poirieria by Vokes (1970) and Todd (2001); and to Neogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002).
