Taxonomy
Murex reticularis was named by Linnaeus (1767) [DISTRIBUTION: Oligocene-Recent; Indo-Pacific.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Persona reticulata by Martin (1899) and Vredenburg (1925); it was recombined as Distorsio reticulatum by Eames (1950); it was recombined as Distorsio reticularis by Harzhauser et al. (2009).
