Taxonomy
Sorex subminutus was named by Sulimski (1962). It is not extant. Its type specimen is MZ VIII/Vm-309/1, a skull. Its type locality is Węże, which is in a MN 15 cave breccia in Poland.

A. Sulimski 1962 | The dental formula is 3/2, 1/0, 3/1, 3/3. i1 is short, thick, robust, with the tip strongly hooked. i2 is reduced, rather small. p4 short and high. The molar talonids are broader than the trigonids. The tips of molars hooked backwards. Horizontal ramus slender, lower than the height of the molars. Mental foramen below m1. P4 much molarized, with a strong hypocone. M3 lacking both hypocone and metastyle. Nasal bones narrow and long. Infraorbital foramen broad. |
