Pleurotoma (Pleurofusia) was named by de Gregorio (1890) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-l T Mi-l]. It is extant. Its type is Pleurotoma (Pleurofusia) longirostropsis.

It was Surcula (Pleurofusia) by Vredenburg (1921); it was Turricula (Pleurofusia) by Olsson (1932); it was reranked as Pleurofusia by Woodring (1970), Dockery (1977), Petuch (1997), Todd (2001) and Sepkoski (2002).
