Taxonomy
Turritella perattenuata was named by Heilprin (1886) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene-Pliocene; Caribbean-Florida.]. It is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Bactrospira.

It was recombined as Turritella (Bactrospira) perattenuata by Perrilliat (1987) and Landau and Marques da Silva (2010).
