Pseudolatirus was named by Bellardi (1883) [Sepkoski's age data: T Than T Plio Sepkoski's reference number: 614].

It was assigned to Fasciolariinae by MacNeil (1960), Robba et al. (1989) and Wilson (1994); to Neogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Peristerniinae by Snyder (2003).
