Hispanomys daamsi

Taxonomy
Hispanomys daamsi was named by Agusti et al. (2005). Its type specimen is IPS 16444, a mandible (sin. with m1-m3), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Can Missert, which is in a MN 7 + 8 alluvial fan horizon in Spain.

J. Agusti et al. 2005H. daamsi is a large Hispanomys species with complete ectolophs. It is charactereized by its elongated first molars and long third lower molars (low value for the relation m1/m3). In the lower first molar the metalophulids are always anterior and connected to the posterior wall of the anteroconid. The mesolophid in the lower first and second molars is short or absent, while it is present in the third lower molar.
