Serpula conica was named by Dillwyn (1815) [DISTRIBUTION: Pliocene-Recent; cirucm-Caribbean.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Vermetus conicus by Mörch (1861); it was recombined as Serpulorbis conicus by Weisbord (1962).
