Taxonomy
Cornuspira was named by Schultze (1854) [Sepkoski's age data: C Vise R]. It is extant. It is the type genus of Cornuspiridae.

It was assigned to Miliolidae by Harlton (1933); to Ophtalmiidae by Wienrich (1997); to Foraminiferida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Cornuspirinae by Loeblich and Tappan (1984) and Margerel (2012).
