Tudicla (Pyropsis) was named by Conrad (1860) [Sepkoski's age data: K Turo-u T Than-l]. Its type is Pyropsis australis.

It was reranked as Pyropsis by Sohl (1964), Sohl (1964), Sepkoski (2002) and Stilwell et al. (2004).

It was assigned to Tudicla by Conrad (1860); to Vasinae by Sohl (1964) and Sohl (1964); to Neogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Tudiclidae by Stilwell et al. (2004).
