Mitra rembangensis was named by Martin (1906) [DISTRIBUTION: Oligocene-Miocene; Indonesia, Pakistan.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Mitra (Cancilla) rembangensis by Vredenburg (1925); it was recombined as Cancilla rembangensis by Harzhauser (2007).
