Nihonia shimajiriensis

Taxonomy
Nihonia shimajiriensis was named by MacNeil (1960) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene-Pliocene; Japan.]. Its type specimen is USNM 562751, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USGS 17445, Yonabaru, which is in a Pliocene offshore claystone in the Yonabaru Formation of Japan.
