Taxonomy
Helicinidae was named by Férussac (1822) [m. kosnik taxon no: 5277]. It is extant. Its type is Helicininae. It is the type family of Helicinoidea.

It was assigned to Prosobranchia by Gingerich (1987); to Neritoidea by Beesley (1998); to Neritacea by Kosnik (2002); and to Helicinoidea by Bouchet et al. (2005).
