Taxonomy
Chama gryphoides was named by Linnaeus (1758) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Miocene-Recent; Mediterranean.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Chama (Psilopus) gryphoides by Janssen (1972); it was recombined as Chama (Chama) gryphoides by Freneix et al. (1988).
