Chama calyculata was named by Linnaeus (1758) [DISTRIBUTION: Recent; Mediterranean.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Cardita (Cardita) calyculata by Freneix et al. (1988); it was recombined as Cardita calyculata by Lamarck (1799), Poppe and Goto (1993) and Beesley (1998).
