Taxonomy
Scobinella was named by Conrad (1848) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-m-l T Mi-u Sepkoski's reference number: 123,549]. Its type is Scobinella caelata.

It was assigned to Pleurotomidae by White (1889); to Borsoniinae by Woodring (1928), Olsson (1964) and Woodring (1970); to Turridae by Olsson (1931), Harris and Palmer (1947) and Todd (2001); and to Neogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002).
