Taxonomy
Arca patagonica was named by Ihering (1897) [DISTRIBUTION: Oligocene-Miocene; Chile, Argentina.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was synonymized subjectively with Arca umbonata by Parodiz (1996); it was recombined as Arca (Arca) patagonica by Frassinetti and Covacevich (1999).
