Modiola andina was named by Ortmann (1900) [DISTRIBUTION: Oligocene-Miocene; Chile, Argentina.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Brachydontes andina by Ihering (1907); it was recombined as Brachidontes andinus by Frassinetti and Covacevich (1999).
