Dolium ovulum was named by Ortmann (1900) [DISTRIBUTION: Oligocene-Miocene; Chile, Argentina.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Sconsia ovulum by Ihering (1907); it was recombined as Semicassis ovulum by Frassinetti and Covacevich (1999).
