Buccinum intermedium was named by Brocchi (1814) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Miocene; Mediterranean.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Semicassis (Echinophoria) intermedia by Marasti (1973); it was recombined as Echinophoria intermedium by Beu (2008).
