Stylophyllum (Maeandrostylis) was named by Frech (1890) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr u]. Its type is Stylophyllum (Maeandrostylis) irregulare.

It was reranked as Maeandrostylis by Wells (1956); it was misspelled as Meandrostylis by Roniewicz (1989), Sepkoski (2002) and Sepkoski (2002).

It was assigned to Stylophyllum by Frech (1890); to Stylophyllidae by Wells (1956) and Roniewicz (1989); to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002); and to Scleractina by Sepkoski (2002).
