Taxonomy
Syntomodrillia was named by Woodring (1928) [Sepkoski's age data: T Ol-l R Sepkoski's reference number: 852]. It is extant. Its type is Pleurotoma (Mangilia) lissotropis.

It was assigned to Turrinae by Woodring (1928); to Clavinae by MacNeil (1960) and Woodring (1970); to Turridae by Gardner (1948) and Todd (2001); to Neogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Drilliidae by Bouchet et al. (2011).
