Trachypollia was named by Woodring (1928) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-l R]. It is extant. Its type is Trachypollia sclera.

It was assigned to Buccinidae by Woodring (1964); to Muricidae by Todd (2001); and to Neogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002).
