Bartowski 1996Hyolithids known from straight to dorsally curved conchs with short ligula, comarginal lirae or rugae, and cross-sections that range from a dorsoventrally compressed ellipse to reversed-triangular with narrowly rounded venter; conchs up to 7.5 cm and have transverse septa; low opercula with wide conical shield and peg-like cardinal processes; clavicles absent.
