Cassis bisulcata was named by Schubert and Wagner (1829) [DISTRIBUTION: Neogene-Recent; Indo-Pacific.]. It is extant. It is the type species of Semicassis.
It was recombined as Faurotis bisulcata by Jousseaume (1888); it was recombined as Phalium (Semicassis) bisulcata by Abbott (1968); it was recombined as Phalium (Semicassis) bisulcatum by Skwarko and Sufiati (1994); it was recombined as Semicassis bisulcata by Beu (2005) and Beu (2010).
