Tritonatractus was named by Cossmann (1901) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-u]. It is not extant.

It was corrected as Tritonoatractus by Harris and Palmer (1947); it was misspelled as Tritonoatractus by Dockery (1977) and Sepkoski (2002).

It was assigned to Vasinae by Wenz (1938); to Fasciolariidae by Harris and Palmer (1947) and Dockery (1977); and to Neogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002).
