Taxonomy
Petasotheca minuta was named by Landing and Bartowski (1996). Its type specimen is NYSM 15555, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is E-Bar-4.0 - Keeler's Eskimo Bar ice cream stand, which is in a Dyeran slope siltstone in the Browns Pond Formation of New York.

E. Landing and K.E. Bartowski 1996Species of Petasotheca new genus with seven lateral clavicles that increase in size dorsally and a raised, dorsolateral lobe composed of four additional clavicles; conch is simple, curved, has elliptical cross-section and apical angle of 15"-20".

Discussion.-The conchs are curved and differentiable from those of associated Conotheca laurentiensis new species.
