Taxonomy
Tridacnidae was named by Lamarck (1819) [m. kosnik taxon no: 5203]. It is extant.

It was reranked as the subfamily Tridacninae by Harzhauser et al. (2008) and Carter et al. (2011).

It was assigned to Tridacnacea by Vokes (1980); to Cardiidae by Harzhauser et al. (2008); to Tridacnoidea by Nevesskaja (2009); and to Eucardiids by Carter et al. (2011).
