Phyllocoenia incrassata was named by Frech (1890). It is not extant.

It was recombined as Confusastrea incrassata by Smith (1927); it was recombined as Kuhnastraea incrassata by Stanley, jr and Whalen (1989) and Caruthers and Stanley (2008).
