Uzita was named by Adams and Adams (1853) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-l R Sepkoski's reference number: 814]. It is extant.

It was reranked as Nassa (Uzita) by Olsson (1942); it was reranked as Hinia (Uzita) by Marasti (1973) and Mandic and Steininger (2003); it was reranked as Nassarius (Uzita) by Woodring (1928), Woodring (1964), Ladd (1977), Todd (2001) and Hendy et al. (2008).
