Retiophyllia dawsoni
Taxonomy
Calamophyllia dawsoni was named by Clapp and Shimer (1911). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is GSC 13703, Cowichan Lake, Vancouver Island, which is in a Rhaetian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Sutton Formation of Canada.
It was synonymized subjectively with Thecosmilia delicatula by Smith (1927); it was recombined as Thecosmilia dawsoni by Squires (1956); it was recombined as Retiophyllia dawsoni by Stanley, jr and Whalen (1989) and Caruthers and Stanley (2008).
