Modiola cordata was named by Lamarck (1807) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Oligocene; western Europe, Bahrain.]. It is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Lithodomus cordatus by Fuchs (1870); it was recombined as Lithophagus cordatus by Frauscher (1886); it was recombined as Lithophaga cordata by Cox (1936).
