Volutomorpha was named by Gabb (1877) [Sepkoski's age data: K Coni K Maes Sepkoski's reference number: 4]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Volutoderminae by Sohl (1964); and to Neogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002).
