Cardium (Acanthocardia) reedi was named by Loel and Corey (1932) [DISTRIBUTION: Oligocene-Miocene; Northern Pacific.]. Its type specimen is UCMP 31772, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Ciliatocardium reedi by Kafanov (2002); it was recombined as Acanthocardia (Acanthocardia) reedi by Moore (2003).
