Cardium shinjiensis was named by Yokoyama (1923) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene; Japan.]. Its type specimen is UMUT CM24580, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Clinocardium shinjiense by Kamada (1962); it was recombined as Ciliatocardium shinjiense by Kafanov (2002).
