Nassarina (Zanassarina) was named by Pilsbry and Lowe (1932) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-m R Sepkoski's reference number: 553]. It is extant. Its type is Nassarina (Zanassarina) poecila.

It was reranked as Zanassarina by Woodring (1964) and Sepkoski (2002).

It was assigned to Columbellidae by Woodring (1964); to Nassarina by Pilsbry and Lowe (1932) and Todd (2001); and to Neogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002).
