Chardinomys louisi

Taxonomy
Chardinomys louisi was named by Zhou (1988). Its type specimen is IVPP V8655, a maxilla (sin. with m1-m3), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Hefeng, Jingle County, Northern Shanxi Province, which is in the Ruscinian of horizon China.

X. Zhou 1988Generally, this is a smaller species than the type for the genus, but larger than C. schaubi (Teilhard, 1940) and C. nihowanicus (Zheng, 1981). The M1 t5 is usually not connected to the t6. The t6 is generally connected to the t8. The t1 bis and the t2 prestyle is not as well developed as on C. yusheensis and is frequently absent. The M2 lacks a t7. The m1 longitudinal spur is not well developed and is occasionally lost.
