Taxonomy
Spisula valhosierr was named by Gardner (1947) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Miocene; Florida.]. It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USGS Loc. 3748 - Summerville Mill [Shoal River Fm], which is in a Serravallian marine marl/sandstone in the Shoal River Formation of Florida.
It was recombined as Leptomactra valhosierr by Ward (1992).
